What this PDF tool privacy policy covers
This policy covers the EditPDFly website, its browser-based PDF editor, temporary PDF-to-Word conversion, Google Analytics measurement, and optional support feedback. The information processed depends on which workflow you choose. Opening a public page is different from selecting a PDF for conversion or deliberately attaching a PDF to a support report.
PDF Editor
Opening, previewing, and editing a PDF in the Online PDF Editor occur in your browser. The editor does not upload the file merely to display or edit the page.
If you choose Export to Word from the editor, the uploaded source PDF follows the temporary conversion process described below. Normal PDF export remains in the browser.
PDF to Word conversion
The converter uploads the selected PDF to create a DOCX. Smaller files go directly to the conversion function. Larger files are uploaded directly from your browser to private temporary Vercel Blob storage so the service can support PDFs up to 20 MB without routing the file through a size-limited application request.
Private temporary files require authenticated server access and use randomized paths. The source Blob and temporary working directory are deleted when the conversion response finishes or the conversion fails. If a browser is closed after upload but before conversion begins, automated deletion cannot be guaranteed immediately. Infrastructure backups and security logs, if enabled by the hosting provider, follow that provider's retention controls.
Information we process and why
The service processes a selected PDF only to provide the editing or conversion action you request. Basic request and error information may be processed to keep the service secure, diagnose failures, and prevent abuse.
Technical logs
Hosting and application logs may contain request time, route, response status, browser details, and error diagnostics. Product analytics should not record file names, document text, file contents, document screenshots, or signed file URLs.
Analytics, cookies, and accounts
EditPDFly uses Google Analytics 4 to measure page views, sessions, general engagement, referral source, device and browser category, and approximate geographic region. The implementation is configured without Google Signals or advertising personalization. Analytics must not receive a PDF filename, document text, file content, document screenshot, signed file URL, password, or support-message content.
Google Analytics may use cookies or similar browser storage to distinguish visits and calculate aggregate usage. You can restrict or clear this storage through your browser. The current EditPDFly tools do not require an account, and EditPDFly does not use an uploaded PDF to train an AI model.
In-product feedback
You can send a problem description without including a PDF. If you explicitly choose “Send feedback and current PDF,” the browser uploads that PDF to private storage and sends the report directly to EditPDFly support. The original filename is replaced with a neutral name. The file and report are used only to reproduce the reported problem, support the user, and improve EditPDFly; they are not used for advertising or AI training.
PDFs small enough for email are attached to the support message and deleted from temporary storage after the email provider accepts the message. Larger PDFs are available to authorized support through a signed private link for no more than 7 days, after which automated cleanup deletes them. Failed submissions are deleted immediately where possible. The report also contains the selected issue type, optional description, current page, browser identifier, file size, page count when available, and tool stage.
Only people responsible for EditPDFly support and engineering diagnosis should access submitted feedback. Avoid sending confidential, regulated, or third-party information you are not authorized to share.
Service providers and security
EditPDFly relies on hosting and email providers to operate the site. They process only the information needed for their service. Reasonable technical safeguards are used, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You can choose not to upload a document, remove identifying details before processing, and contact support with privacy questions. Because the current tools do not require accounts, there is no account profile to delete.
Changes
This PDF tool privacy policy will be updated when hosting, storage, analytics, account, or payment behavior changes.
