Online PDF tools

Edit, sign, combine, or convert PDF files with clear limits and no account required.

Choose the right online PDF tool

Start with the result you need. Use the online PDF editor for a focused page change, add a visible signature when a recipient accepts one, combine PDF files when several documents belong in one ordered copy, or convert to Word for longer rewriting.

Each workflow has its own tool because editing, visible signing, page organization, and document conversion have different controls and risks. The signing and combining tools run locally in the browser. PDF to Word uses temporary server processing.

Edit a PDF in your browser

The PDF editor opens the selected file in your browser and shows page previews and supported content layers. You can select detected text, add new text or an image, cover an existing area, and export the edited PDF. Files are not uploaded merely to display or edit the page.

Not every PDF contains editable text. A scan may contain only pixels, while another PDF may store letters as vector outlines. Those files need OCR or a different reconstruction workflow. The editor reports that limitation instead of presenting an image as editable text.

Convert PDF to an editable Word document

The PDF to Word tool accepts one PDF up to 20 MB and returns a DOCX with a font report. It works best when the source contains real text and a reasonably conventional layout. Complex tables, multi-column pages, rare fonts, and image-only scans require closer review after conversion.

Always open the downloaded DOCX and compare it with the source. Check headings, tables, images, headers, footers, pagination, and font substitutions before sharing or relying on the converted file.

How EditPDFly tests PDF workflows

A successful request is only the first check. We reopen exported files, confirm that the result is a real PDF or DOCX, inspect searchable text, and compare page structure with the source. Error states should also explain what happened, such as an unsupported scan, a damaged file, or a size limit.

This is why the online PDF tools directory is intentionally short. New pages are published only after the underlying workflow handles real files and explains important limits. Planned areas include compression and image export. OCR, certificate-backed signing, and exact same-font editing require separate capabilities and are not shown as available today.

Keep a safe review copy

Keep the original PDF until you have inspected the export. Editing can invalidate an existing digital signature, and conversion can change layout even when the words are preserved. Avoid uploading confidential material unless online processing is appropriate for the document. The privacy policy explains which workflows stay in the browser and when temporary server processing is used.
