Why can I not edit text on a page?
The page may be an image-only scan, the letters may be vector outlines, or the text structure may not be supported. Image-only scans need OCR, which EditPDFly does not currently provide.
What is the file size limit?
Both public workflows accept one PDF up to 20 MB. A larger file is rejected before processing with a clear size error.
Why does my font look different?
A PDF may embed a font subset that is not installed on your device. The editor can fall back to another browser font. The Word converter reports detected and exported font names, but Word can still substitute a font missing from the viewing device.
Does PDF to Word support scanned text?
No OCR is included. An image-only page can retain its appearance in the DOCX, but the pixels do not become editable characters.
Why is the PDF export labelled?
The editor exports an edited PDF without adding a visible watermark or test-copy label. Review the result before sharing it, and remember that existing digital signatures are not preserved after editing.
What should I check after conversion?
Open the DOCX and compare headings, tables, images, page breaks, headers, footers, non-Latin text, and the font report against the source PDF.
How should I prepare a PDF before editing?
Keep an untouched copy of the source file. Open the PDF once, confirm the page count, and try selecting a word to see whether the document contains searchable text. Remove any password you are authorized to remove before uploading, and avoid processing confidential material unless an online workflow is appropriate.
Can I use the PDF editor on a phone?
The site is responsive, but precise page editing is easier on a desktop or tablet with a larger viewport. On a phone, zoom carefully and inspect the exported page at full size. For long documents or detailed layer movement, a desktop browser gives you more room to review the page and controls.
What happens to an existing digital signature?
Editing changes the document bytes, so an existing digital signature will no longer validate as the original signed file. Keep the signed source unchanged. If a new signature is required, complete the edit first and use an appropriate signing workflow after the final document has been reviewed.
What if the PDF is damaged or password protected?
A damaged PDF may fail to open, and a password-protected PDF may block parsing or conversion. Confirm that the file opens in another trusted viewer and that you have permission to remove any protection. EditPDFly does not bypass passwords or repair every malformed document.
Where does PDF editing happen?
Opening, previewing, and editing in the online PDF editor occur in the browser. PDF to Word conversion uses temporary server processing because the service must create a new DOCX. Read the privacy policy for details about temporary files and optional feedback attachments.
How do I report a repeatable problem?
Use the feedback control or the contact page. Include the tool, browser, operating system, approximate file size, page count, the stage that failed, and the exact error message. Do not include a filename, document text, password, or confidential screenshot unless you have decided it is safe and necessary to share.
